Rebates 101:

Ontario Fed/Provincial Home Audit program http://www.homeenergyontario.ca/green/back.asp?lang=en&sec=green allows for rebates of $600 for an energy star high efficiency furnace and $1000 for a furnace equiped with a ECM (variable speed) furnace motor.

Existing Federal grants are now increased by 25%

Recently (March 30, 2009), Natural Resources Canada announced that they will be increasing their portion of rebate monies by 25%. That is an additional $75 for an ENERGY STAR furnace, and an additional $125-($150) for a min. 92% (min. 94%) efficiency ENERGY STAR furnace with an ECM motor

As part of the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan, the ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes program has been expanded to help 200,000 more homeowners cover the cost of making energy-efficiency retrofits to their homes. The expanded time-limited program includes a $300-million increase in funding over two years.

ecoENERGY Retrofit – Homes provides home and property owners with grants up to $5,000 per unit to offset the cost of making energy efficiency improvements. Small mixed-use buildings are also eligible as long as they meet the size requirements and 50% or more of the floor space is used as permanent residences.

The Ontario Power Authority (OPA) www.coolsavingsrebate.com provides $125 for an ECM equiped furnace and $25 for a programmable stat,

Enbridge (local gas utility) https://portal-plumprod.cgc.enbridge.com/portal/server.pt?open=512&objID=285&PageID=0&cached=true&mode=2&userID=2 offers $100 for upgrade to high efficiency and $15 for a programmable stat.  

The recent Federal buget (Jan. 29/2009) www.cra.gc.ca provides a 15% credit on eligible expenditures (includes furnace and HWT replacement) exceeding $1000 up to a max. of $10,000 .
